Each episode, a party of adventurers battle through a standalone 5.5e tactical monster hunt set in the spectacular world of DnD Shorts’ Ryoko’s Guide to the Yokai Realms — a realm of fierce monsters, deadly terrain, brutal choices and cinematic fantasy chaos.
Ryoko's rules encourage smart tactics, combo attacks and glorious team play.
The monsters are dangerous.
The world is unforgiving.
Can they survive?
BUT THERE'S A TWIST
REAL GAMERS.
REAL SOLDIERS.
... A REALLY BAD IDEA.
But this is no ordinary actual play.
The GM is not here to save them.
Our Game Master is a military veteran
-with real infantry and cavalry experience-
and the encounters are built to punish sloppy tactics.
Bad positioning, poor communication and heroic stupidity all have consequences.
At the centre of each episode -stepping into the role as the party’s hero - is our very special guest star:

or YouTuber
Supporting our guest hero are our two regular adventurers- Gandor the Grey and Sarge- both veterans of the Hesperian Wars.
They are played by real military veterans who bring real-world battlefield logic to the table. Unfortunately their characters are idiots. And the players aren't much better.
And then there’s Timpkins. Brave, expendable, and wildly underqualified little Timpkins.
Timpkins is the party’s disposable hireling, played by- well, possibly you- a member of our live studio audience.
Expect fantastic battles, and terrible decisions as we relearn once again that age old military truth...

Knowledge of 5e is required. But not always demonstrated.
